Art for Anxiety is a programme of workshops that has been developed with and for people who live with anxiety.
Participants will learn a variety of art techniques that can help to soothe their mind in moments of anxiety.
One of the most popular art for anxiety sessions we offer is water marbling- watching the patterns of the inks swirling in the water is incredibly calming.
Beautiful prints can be made quickly giving participants a sense of achievement and a boost of dopamine.
The artwork created in marbling sessions often forms the basis of other artworks and is regularly used to display work from creative writing sessions.
We also offer the following sessions- photomontage/collage, creative writing, cyanotype, tape art, block printing including the opportunity to design and make your own stamps and Lego printing.
If you have a particular genre you’d like to explore this can usually be adapted into an art for anxiety session.
Art for Anxiety sessions are currently offered at Duncan Place Community Hub in Leith on the last Monday and Thursday of the month and every Wednesday 2-3.30pm at Granton Station.
Sessions are free and all materials are provided.
